About Us

We (Marie & Johan) are a Swedish couple from Stockholm who took a short vacation in Lofoten 2012.
Johan had been here as young, and wanted to show me how beautiful it was. I had always loved mountains and water, and also had some interest in fishing, if not as big as Johans.

That time we stayed in the surroundings of Svolvaer, got engaged and were so lucky to see northern light as early as in the beginning of August the engagement night! It felt like a sign it was something special about this area.

As Johan had business to do in Norway after I went home, he stayed for a little longer and could check out Lofoten more.
He went to Leknes (the second biggest town in Lofoten) and found a cosy fishing village in Skreda, and a very nice older man who offered him somewhere to stay.
Johan mentioned this fishing village to me, and the year after, 2013,  we both went there and met the same man again, being as friendly as last time.
As there were still land for sale we decided to buy one lot and build a holiday house.

Later in the summer we went back for a longer vacation, and this time we had my nieces with me (7 and 10), to check what kids would think of this place. And they loved it!

After long start-up with paperwork for the rorbu holiday house we could finally start on it spring 2014.
In summer 2015 we have come halfway in the work, and expect to be able to stay in it 2016, with just small things left.
Meanwhile we have bought another fishing cabin to stay in, which we are renting out when we are not in Skreda.

Best,
Marie & Johan
